Leftbank was the first multi-storey residential development along the edge of the Brisbane River at West End. The brief was for a contemporary sub-tropical apartment building that is oriented towards the River. It consists of eleven, two storey river homes, and a seven level apartment building containing forty apartments, seven terrace houses and seven two level penthouses.
All living areas, bedrooms and kitchens have been designed with generous openings to expansive balconies and views allowing a free flow between indoors and comfortable outdoor living spaces. The balconies are heavily recessed which provides not only large outdoor useable areas, but also ensures that internal areas are well shaded from the north-western afternoon sun.
The apartment block is in two sections providing a permeable vista from Musgrave Street, to the Brisbane River, enhancing the surrounding urban context. The landscaping of the development incorporates a large central spine of sub tropical rainforest planting surrounding the poolside terrace.
